Mr. Truong Tan Sang toured the Central Highland province of Dak Lak from Aug. 9-10. Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, said that it is time for Dak Lak and other Central Highlands provinces to promote towards becoming a national economic driver by 2010.

Dak Lak exports reach 370 million USD.

Dak Lak has earned 370 million USD in exports since the beginning of this year, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 50 percent or 93 percent of the province target for this year. The province aims to generate over 500 million USD from exports by the end of this year.

Dak Lak expects boom in hydro-power projects.

Recent surveys and feasibility studies have spotted almost 100 points ideal for the construction of medium- and small-sized hydro-power plants in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak. Investors have so far finalised blueprints for 21 projects with a combined capacity of 106 MW at a cost of almost 2 trillion VND in total.
