Dak Lak’s GDP growth rates, in current prices, compare well to the national average and to other regions. Agriculture grew at 11.4 percent in 2003, compared to 3.6 percent nationally, though this could be due to an increase in the price of coffee. The growth rate in industry was 26.3 percent, higher than regional and national averages, as was the growth rate in the service sector. These growth rates are also higher than Quang Nam province though not the South Central Coastal region as a whole.
